The Computer Technology group offers an M.Tech. Programme in Computer Technology, whose objective is to offer students a balanced exposure to hardware and software design principles. The group typically has 5 Ph.D. and 15 M.Tech students.
Faculty members of the group actively pursue research activities in the broad areas of Computer Networking, Parallel and Distributed Processing, CAD for VLSI, Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Pattern Recognition, Graph Theory, Neural Networks and Multimedia Systems. The group has executed sponsored research, consultancy and manpower training projects funded by various governmental agencies, defense organizations and industries. Faculty members have served in the programme committees of international and national conferences and the editorial boards of international journals.
Research and development activities of the group are centered on three laboratories. The Computing Laboratory provides a general computational facility around powerful workstations. The Multimedia and Distributed Computing Laboratory houses multimedia systems and multimodal I/O devices. The Computer Technology Laboratory provides facilities for hardware development and microprocessor based system design.
